Pin Game

I've started designing pin badges recently and this CMYK Enamel Lapel Pin Badge is my first design that has made it to production. It's sold pretty well so far and I'm really happy that people like it! It's similar to the CMYK Necklaces I made a few years ago, but I thought a pin badge (much smaller than they necklaces!) would be cute.

There are a lot of pin badge designers and makers that I admire so I'm going to share a few of them here. You can also check out my Pins and Patches Pinterest Board if you'd like to take a look at even more!

1. Fruity Rainbow Lapel Hat Pin - Bean It
I love this pastel coloured rainbow cloud pin; it's very high quality and plated in 24k gold in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It even has the "Bean It" logo on the back of the pin. Also, PASTEL RAINBOW.

2. Red Cup Pin - The Early Hours Clothing
This iconic red cup design is classic America. It reminds me of American high school movies where all the cool kids go to parties and drink unidentified beverages from these bright red plastic cups. I have always wanted to go to one of those parties.

3. Enamel Pin Candy - Greenwich Letterpress
Another dreamy pastel pin badge, this time by Greenwich Letterpress, a studio and gift shop in New York City. It reminds me of a packet of Fizzers! They have even more cool pins (and cards) in their online store.

4. Enamel Pinata Pin - City of Industry
This new pin from City of Industry comes in classic gold plating or limited edition copper (pictured above). I have more pins from this store than I'd like to admit, they're all so beautiful!

5. Paradise Pin - Big Bud Press
This pin badge store based in Florida has lovely, bright photography and colourful pins that really stand out. These sunglasses are my absolute favourite!

Do you collect pin badges? Let me know if you have any favourites, I'd love to check them out!

Summer Is Here! Sort Of...

So it's July, but that hasn't stopped the Glasgow weather going all out with apocalyptic rain. It's also (occasionally) been sunny which has been something new and exciting for us. We even went to the park the other day and had an ice cream!

They all look almost the same colour but we had some great flavours: apple & cinnamon, salted caramel cheesecake and mango!

Our Beach Polaroid Necklace and Retro Ice Lolly Necklaces are the perfect accessories for your summer holidays - check them out! If you do rock one of our necklaces this summer to the beach or park (or anywhere) I would LOVE to see! Email me pictures at handoveryourfairycakes@hotmail.co.uk or tag @fairy_cakes_ or hashtag #hoyfc on Instagram. Yay!

Friday Wishlist 10

Here's a loosely summery themed Friday Wishlist, because SUMMER.

1. Spangled Rainbow Riot Sunglasses - Asos
If these aren't the best sunglasses ever then I don't know anything anymore. Sparkles! Dinosaurs! Pastels!

2. Life of Adventure Patch - Asilda Store
This patch reminds me of the summer holidays when I was at school when the summer break used to stretch out forever in front of you and anything seemed possible.

3. Blue Milk Carton Cross Body Bag - Skinny Dip
I bought this incredible milk carton shaped bag, which holds a surprising amount of stuff, and now they've brought out a lilac version. Can I buy both?!

4. Tropical Notebooks - Not Only Polka Dots
Fresh fruit always makes me think of sunshine and these cute notebooks with watermelon and banana illustrated covers would be perfect for doodling in the sun.

5. Glitter Rainbow Clutch Handbag - Luna on the Moon
You can't have a rainbow without some sunshine. London based accessory maker Luna on the Moon make some incredible glittery handbags; I really struggled to pick my favourite one, but this rainbow clutch is high up there!

6. Pink Grapefruit Citrus Earrings - Hannah Zakari
I love the frosted perspex that makes up these pink grapefruit earrings, Tropical looking, bright jewellery from Swank at Hannah Zakari!

7. Arwen Aqua T-shirt - Joy
Perfect beachwear from Joy featuring cute illustrated sea creatures in a repeating print. I want to hang out on the sand in this top paired with some denim shorts!

Now I really want to go to the beach. If only it would stop raining....

Adult Achievement Stickers

Recently I've been foraying into designing some stationery for Hand Over Your Fairy Cakes - so far it's been pretty fun! The first thing I made were these Adult Achievement Stickers which are the result of a discussion on an online forum about how it was a shame that there were no reward stickers for grown ups. That IS a shame! I had a think about what sort of things might warrant a sticker and these range from major achievements in adulting, such as opening an ISA, to more everyday achievements such as just eating breakfast. Finally, some recognition that these things are difficult and deserve a "well done" in the form of a cute sticker.

They were printed on vinyl by the lovely Awesome Merchandise and I'm super happy with how they turned out. The colours are great and each individual reward sticker is kiss-cut for easy peeling. I package each sheet in a protective plastic envelope to keep them safe until you want to use them.

I'm running a competition on my Instagram over the next few days; you could win a sheet of Adult Achievement Stickers for you and a friend. Enter HERE. What do you think of the new stickers?
